There is a new clinical guideline for patellofemoral pain syndrome which was was published in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy earlier this month. The guideline will allow you to stay up to date with the latest best practice for PFPS.
The guideline is sadly behind a paywall but there is an excellent summary of recommendations available for free which breaks down each aspect of clinical practice and gives it a grading depending on the quality of evidence.
**Update** – The guideline is now available to everyone for free! Follow the link below to read it now. **
The best way to complement the guideline would be to check out the excellent patellofemoral pain resources available on Physiopedia. The best resources will be linked to at the bottom of this page.
On Physioplus we have an in depth series of courses exploring the knee joint – in our patellofemoral joint programme – which will be the best place to cement the knowledge gained after reading the new guideline.
