This year was the first edition of the BioMed Central cancer awareness poetry competition. As BMC rightly say, by diversifying the discussions about cancer we can increase support and inclusion of the cancer community. The competition was open to anyone affected by cancer and two poems have been selected as winners – a Q & A is available with both authors on BMC.
BMC haven’t said whether they will be holding another competition next year but it is hard to imagine they won’t be considering the high caliber submissions they received.
