Physiotherapy Management of Spinal Cord Injuries course draws to a close

All good things must come to an end and so it is with the open SCI course that has been running since Monday 28th April. We have been blown away by the amazing response to this course and we must thank all those involved, the course tutors Lisa Harvey and Joe Glinsky, the clinical experts from the International Spinal Cord Society who wrote the course materials used on the SCI elearn site and finally to the more than 3500 course participants who have made the associated Facebook group such a lively and enlightening place over the past 6 weeks.

Some quick statistics from the course:

  • 3500+ Course registrations
  • 110+ countries represented
  • 2500+ members of the related Facebook group
  • 10,000+ posts to the Facebook group
  • 60,000+ views of the course pages on Physiopedia
  • 19,000+ views of the digital text book provided by Elsevier during the course

We have received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the course participants for which we are very grateful. One email from Sydney Rebello in particular stood out which is included below in full.

Greetings from Father Mullers, Department of Physiotherapy. Well me and my final year Bachelor of Physiotherapy students have successfully completed the SCI online course. We would like to express our deep gratitude and thank you to all of you who made this course so lively and informative without making it to much loaded with information.
It takes a lot of effort and time to design and conduct the course on a online platform and cater to all the queries that came along during the fruitful discussions on Facebook. Guess we have to thank Facebook too. A photograph of my students and me is attached to this email as a token of our appreciation to all those involved in the conductance of the course.
Once again a very Big Thank you and congratulations to you and all the others involved for mobilizing such a huge number to come together and learn, share and appreciate as well as respect each others outlook on Spinal Cord Injury and its impact on our patients.
