Evidence based practice (EBP) is ‘the integration of best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values’ which when applied by practitioners will ultimately lead to improved patient outcome. Let’s be honest though, it’s a time consuming and largely uninspiring (for most people) process searching for the latest research. So why not let us do it for you?
Each month Lucy Aird and Myself do exactly that. We search through the latest physiotherapy relevant research from the previous month and compile them into any easy to digest newsletter which comes straight to your inbox. Easy.
The Latest Musculoskeletal
Lucy been working on this newsletter for quite sometime now and has refined the process to a tee. This is a must have email for those who work in musculoskeletal, orthopedic, pain and sport settings. Expect to have your horizons broadened and feel like you can offer your patients the best possible service. See your patients improve considerably by keeping up-to-date.
The Latest Specialities
The latest specialities is for those who want to read a variety of non-musculoskeletal research. It’s great for those who specialise in inpatient physiotherapy or those who work in a niche area. I like to change the subjects each month so each edition is slightly different, but you can still expect to be kept up-to-date with what’s been going on in the physiotherapy world. Regular topic’s include Cardiology, Respiratory, Geriatrics, Paeds, Neurology and Oncology.
What about Paywalls?
We are aware that paywalls exist and are a significant barrier to CPD and reading the evidence we share. That’s why we always try our best to find a free text version for you to read and include that within the email. We are finding more and more high quality evidence available for free. This is demonstrated in this months edition of Specialities where 10 respiratory articles are available for free.
What about quality?
As Lucy explained in a recent voices post this is a tricky area. We want to be open and share the latest evidence and allow you to make your own decision about whether it is good research or now. Clearly we won’t include howlers within the newsletters but it is important to be aware of what is happening around the world. Just because it isn’t the norm where you’re from, it could be somewhere else. We all need to go on our own development journey and we want to help you. That’s why we aim to include articles which make a positive impact – focusing on treatment interventions, from higher quality studies that reflect the ever-evolving developments in clinical practice.
