Meet Andrew, Executive Chair of Connect Health

We are delighted to introduce Andrew Walton, Executive Chair of Connect Health, as our new voices contributor.

Born and raised in Newcastle, Andrew qualified as a physiotherapist from Northumbria University in 1985 and worked at Edinburgh’s main teaching hospital, The Royal Infirmary, for three years. He then returned to Newcastle to take up a post in Sports Medicine.

Frustrated at the pace of the NHS but committed to free care for all, in 1989 Andrew founded Connect with the aim of providing the highest level of multidisciplinary care to people with musculoskeletal (MSK) problems. Now as one of the largest providers of MSK services in the UK, Connect continues to strive to achieve the elusive balance for their 3 main stakeholders; patients, colleagues and customers.

Connect have invested heavily in innovative technology, developing data and reducing bureaucracy to allow clinicians to deliver the best care possible.

Andrew said:

“At Connect, we all work towards one goal; to improve people’s quality of life. To achieve this, we invest in our staff, providing education programmes aimed at reducing clinical variation around effective, evidence-based practice.

We believe in retaining great physiotherapists and offer a diverse range of career opportunities, from occupational health, operational and clinical roles (including consultant posts), right through to Board Directors, enabling staff to grow and develop in a direction of their choosing.

To continue to grow and reach our potential, we need to attract and retain absolutely the best people, so we’re committed to providing the right environment for all of our colleagues to succeed.”
