HIV Rehabilitation Resources Launched in Africa

A free website called “HIV Resource” was launched by physiotherapists in Zambia, Canada, Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa to help health care workers improve quality of life standards for adults and youth living with HIV in Africa. 

HIV Resource was designed to provide evidence based solutions about HIV for physical and occupational therapists. According to Esther Munalula Nkandu, the WCPT Executive Board member for Africa notes millions struggle with HIV and associated disabilities in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Because people with HIV are now thinking of their future, rehabilitation goals can be helpful for them to be productive and raise their families. While treatment for HIV is available, rehabilitation needs to be better incorporated into their care.
