The G-Scanner is a weight bearing MRI now being utilized to help diagnose compressive types of musculoskeletal injuries such as spondylolisthesis. This scanner has been helpful in identifying patients for surgery or other treatments.
Purchased through the Welsh government’s health technologies fund, this scanner has helped to improve the country’s health infrastructure and the utilization of various services. This scanner has been particularly helpful for use with patients suffering from claustrophobia, young children, or those with cognitive disorders. Because this scanner is primarily used for spine and musculoskeletal issues, it should not replace the traditional tube type MRI. The main purpose of this machine has been to improve diagnoses, learn prognosis and help patients to progress to where they can continue with an improved quality of life.
