Amputee Course Accredited by the WCPT

We are delighted that our Lower Limb Amputee Rehabilitation course has been accredited by the WCPT for 24 CEUs.

Following accreditation of our Physiotherapy Management of Spinal Cord Injuries Course last year we are pleased to be able to offer participants on our currently running amputee course the opportunity to earn 24 IPT-CEUs from the WCPT.  With over 75oo participants on the course there is a huge opportunity for learning through innovative course activities that encompass knowledge sharing across health care disciplines and territorial boundaries.  We excited to be able to offer people recognition for their participation.

During the 6 weeks of the course the self directed learning tasks provide standard access to basic theoretical knowledge that provides the groundwork for rehabilitating the individual with amputation.  The exciting part of this course is the peer-to-peer knowledge exchange that is taking place in the discussion forum between mainly physiotherapists, but also many other health care disciplines, between people from all over the world. We have many participating from less resourced and challenged countries alongside others from developed countries who have access to all the literature and expertise that they need.  The learning exchange goes both ways and it is extraordinary to see it happening in front of our eyes in the forum.

The course is currently just starting week two where everyone is exploring assessment of the individual with amputation.  We are looking forward to the next 4 weeks of the course to see what we can all learn, not just about amputees but also about learning openly in this global and multidisciplinary context.
