It’s all about Stroke this month!

This month at Physiopedia we’ve been focusing on Stroke.  According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 15 million people suffer stroke worldwide each year. Of these, 5 million die and another 5 million are left permanently disabled.  Stroke kills more than 49,000 people each year in the UK, nearly 1 in 10 and in 2010 stroke was the fourth largest cause of death in the UK after cancer, heart disease and respiratory disease.  It’s a major part of what we do and there is no doubt that all of us will meet a stroke patient in our practice one day.

Our amazing volunteers have been selflessly editing away, doing their best to provide you with some interesting and useful stroke related resources.  We hope that you find them useful and as you read through, if you feel that you can update or improve the page in any way, please just login to Physiopedia (you can request an account here) and make the changes.  This is how we keep Physiopedia evolving with our profession.  Enjoy….
