We are delighted to have a new clinical decision making aid in Physiopedia. Known as SAFEMOB, the purpose of this decision making aid is to provide physical therapists and physiotherapists with guidance on safe mobilisation of the patient in acute care settings. The guide is evidence informed and where there is insufficient evidence, expert informed and is comprised of the following sections:
- What to Assess – what to look for in the chart, what to assess in the patient, what to monitor during mobilisation
- When to consider not to mobilise
- How to mobilise and progress mobilisation
It is not intended to replace the clinician’s clinical reasoning skills and interprofessional collaboration but instead be used as guide in your clinical decision making. We are delighted that the SAFEMOB team have decided to share this document through Physiopedia and we hope that you will find it useful.
SAFEMOB was developed by the SAFEMOB Task Force: Dr. Elizabeth Dean, Dr. Darlene Reid, Frank Chung, Simone Gruenig, Rosalyn Jones, Jocelyn Ross, Maylinda Urbina, Alison Hoens.
