The WCPT are looking for physical therapists or student physical therapists to join a project advisory group on disability access. If you had a disability prior to entering a professional entry level physical therapy education programme and/or acquired a disability requiring accommodations in the workplace to continue or return to practice and are interested in this opportunity, please send an email to Tracy Bury, WCPT Director Professional Policy [email protected]. Please provide details of your current education/working circumstances; geographical location; relevant experience and circumstances, nature of your disability; and a brief statement about what you could bring to the advisory group. Please respond by 11th March.  This project has arisen from a motion at the WCPT General Meeting in June 2011 that “WCPT encourage a rights-based approach to disability in terms of access to physical therapist professional entry-level education and support for practice”. The project aims to raise awareness about the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the implications for the profession for entry level education and practice for physical therapists.

WCPT has set up a new LinkedIn Group, the WCPT Network for ICF. It has been formed to enable discussions, share information and disseminate news on the use of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) by physical therapists.  To join the group you must: register on LinkedIn, if you are not already registered and submit a request to join the ICF group at http://linkd.in/XAGhDp

A number of WCPT member organisations have launched international initiatives offering physical therapists in other countries access to member-only resources. These resources may include online journals, bibliographic databases and publications. Access is available, for a fee, to physical therapists who are members of their national association.
