This special edition of Physical Therapy Review focuses on Pain Management.  It includes a wide range of articles including articles on reconceptualising pain by Lorimer Moseley and the psychology of pain by Johan Vlaeyen Papers focusing on musculoskeletal aspects include a systematic review of prognostic indicators for non-specific neck pain, effectiveness of exercise for non-specific low back pain of greater than 6 weeks duration, spinal stabilisation exercises for patients with low back pain, and a systematic review of the effectiveness of manual therapy for neck pain.

Out of all 291 conditions studied in the Global Burden of Disease 2010 Study, neck pain ranked 4th highest in terms of disability and 21st in terms of overall burden.
