Deadline approaching for call for congress courses
There is less than one month left to the deadline of 14th February to submit a proposal for pre- and post-congress courses.
Congress courses have a focus on applied knowledge and skills. They are uniquely designed to complement the main scientific programme and offer the delegate the chance to:
- gain practical experience
- listen to the latest evidence and discover the implications for practice
- explore issues in depth
- learn directly from experts via a range of stimulating learning formats
- meet with international fellow delegates in their field of interest
Each session is to be organised by a recognised expert in the field. The ISC is particularly interested in seeing proposals that are evidence based, address significant contemporary issues and innovations in physical therapy, and include perspectives from low income countries. The ISC is keen to include a range of courses from across WCPT’s regions.

Call for abstracts opens 17th March
The call for abstracts for WCPT Congress 2015 will open on17th March. The deadline for submission is 31st October 2014.
Abstract presentations are the main way of showcasing research and innovations. There were nearly 2,500 abstracts presented at the last WCPT Congress in 2011 in Amsterdam.
Some exciting new innovations are being introduced to the abstract presentation options:
- rapid five platform sessions – five slides in five minutes
- state of the art platform sessions profiling the developments that you can’t afford to miss
- poster walks led by high profile moderators

Abstract mentorship programme
WCPT has a mentoring programme in place from 17th March to 12th September 2014 for those with limited or no experience of submitting an abstract for a scientific congress. The goal of the programme is to help authors present their material clearly and concisely prior to submitting the abstract to the formal abstract review process.

Focused symposia to be announced
Focused symposia are central to the congress programme. These one-and-a-half-hour sessions provide a forum where cutting edge topics can be explored and debated, drawing together different research and practice perspectives. As part of an international team, focused symposium convenors and speakers can explore the implications of the latest research and thinking as well as debate controversies and lay the foundations for further interactions and initiatives.
