Ordinarily, the objective of any rehabilitation program is to return the patient/athlete to the preinjury level. This is the commonly used benchmark reported in the literature when determining rehabilitation goals or describing the outcomes following anterior cruciate ligament injury or reconstruction. The first question therapists should ask themselves is, “Is returning a patient to the preinjury level good enough?”
