Learn the secrets of developing and running a MOOC for physiotherapy and physical therapy education

If you’ve been wondering about running a MOOC for physiotherapists or physical therapists you should think about attending this course on “Creating And Running An Open, Online Course In Physiotherapy Education” that will be running as  pre-congress course at WCPT Congress in Singapore.

Open, online courses offer innovative educational spaces that can dramatically enhance the classroom and learning experiences of students and clinicians. The aim of this course is to help participants learn why they might want to create an open, online course, and how to set one up so as to maximise the advantages of this approach, while also reducing the risks.

The course is being run by Michael Rowe, physiotherapy lecturer at University of Western Cape in South Africa and our very own Tony Lowe and Rachael Lowe, Physiopedia co-founders.  Michael, Tony and Rachael probably have the most experience of creating and running MOOCs than anyone else in the profession.  Together they ran the first ever physiotherapy MOOC in 2013 on professional ethics and have since gone on to plan and run others through Physiopedia.

The course at congress will be short but very interactive.  Participants will:

  1. Explore relevant theoretical perspectives that inform the design of open, online courses.
  2. Set up a personal learning environment in preparation for participating in an open, online course.
  3. Participate in a short open, online course.
