This is a Masterclass in Telehealth for Physiotherapy

This new 4 course programme is an exploration of how to use digital communication technology for assessment and treatment of patients.

Delivery of physiotherapy via the Internet of Things (IoT) was always going  be the future. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic there has had to be a step change in the speed of development and adoption of this way of delivering physiotherapy. To many of us this is a confusing and difficult change in the way we work. It can be confusing and frustrating but most importantly none of us was to reduce the effectiveness of our assessment or treatment sessions. Not many of us have ever had training in how to do this and that’s why Physioplus has teamed up with two of the experts to create this fantastic 4 course telehealth programme for you.

Michelle Cottrell and Trevor Russell are both teleheath experts and have multiple high profile publications investigating how telehalth and physiotherapy can work together in this unprecedented time and moving forwards into the future.  In this programme Michelle and Trevor will focus on different aspects of telehealth including platform selection and related practical issues such as ethics, assessment and management.

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.

The programme is made up of 4 courses which are shown below.

The Programme

Introduction to Telehealth
Telehealth is rapidly expanding as a method of healthcare delivery. While it offers many benefits for patients and practitioners, there are various ethical, legal and practical issues that health professionals must consider before engaging in telehealth. This course will introduce telehealth and these related issues.

Start with The Basics of Telehealth

Clinical Triaging and Practical Considerations in Telehealth
Telehealth provides many opportunities to enhance patients’ access to healthcare services using digital technology, but in order to be effective and safe, physiotherapists must be able to triage patients and ensure that the consultation runs smoothly. This course, the second in a series of telehealth courses, will explore clinical triaging and outline certain practical considerations to enhance your ability to use telehealth effectively.

Triaging & Practical Considerations

Telehealth Technology Selection
Technology is a key aspect of this service delivery but telehealth is not confined to one particular type of technology. While technology enables a clinical interaction to take place over any geographical distance, the choice of technology can determine how these interactions take place. This course covers the types of technology that can be utilised, as well as the considerations when deciding which type of technology to choose. It also provides an overview of suitable platforms that can be utilised for telehealth consultations.

Choosing The Right Solution
