Todd Bourgeois: AAOMPT’s own American Ninja Warrior

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT) is a national organization committed to excellence in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy practice, education and research. Fellows of the AAOMPT provide the highest level of musculoskeletal care through advanced manual therapy practice.

One current AAOMPT Fellow who teaches and practices manual Physical Therapy is promoting physical excellence. Todd Bourgeois, is a full time instructor at the University of St. Augustine who is working on a PhD in Health Psychology from Walden University. With the encouragement of his PT students (many of whom are AAOMPT SIG group members), Todd earned a spot on national TV competing in a physical competition show called American Ninja Warrior. In this competition, contestants must compete in overcoming very challenging physical obstacles, something you might think a ninja would do, hence the name.

Many of the people that know Todd have applauded Todd’s achievements.  Wanda Nitsch, President and Chief Academic Officer of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, said “We are very proud of Todd. His focus on health and wellness, sportsmanship, service, and academics makes him a great example of our university core values and quality faculty.”  Bob Rowe, President and Program Director of Brooks Rehabilitation Institute of Higher Learning, said “ Todd’s commitment to orthopaedic manual physical therapy and excellence in performance is an example of the many accomplishments of AAOMPT members. We respect his accomplishments and applaud his efforts to be an example for students and clinicians.”

Todd has used this opportunity to showcase not only what a physical therapist does, but also the tremendous community of PTs that he associates with through AAOMPT, and his mission work in third world countries such as Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.  Please join AAOMPT in supporting Todd as he competes for a chance to advance to the final round of competition on NBC on July 28th!
