On return from the Physiotherapy Congress in Canada

It’s always fun to be at the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) conference and this year in Victoria was no different.  Amongst the whales and orcas that cruised the seas not too far from our hotel, the seaplanes that constantly ferried people between Victoria and Vancouver, the plethora of tea drinking options and the pleasantly English weather, the conference delivered a fabulous programme and great networking experiences.

Our Physiopedia stand in the exhibition hall became a social hub for our team, colleagues and Physiopedia fans.  Having an exhibition stand at a conference allows us a little Physiopedia space where everyone knows they can find us at any time during the conference.  We greeted friends and also colleagues that we had never before, we met users face to face, we drank coffee, we ate lunch and we chatted.  We also spent time demonstrating the CPD and learning opportunity of Physiopedia Plus (PP+) to CPA members who all have free access courtesy of the CPA. This is a very innovative and forward thinking organisation!

As always we had great fun with the Canadian arm of our Physiopedia team.  It was great to catch up with Laura again and fabulous to meet Evan after 3 years of working together.

We love conferences for catching up with our colleagues from the World Confederation of Physical Therapy (WCPT), with whom we are a non-profit partner.  This time it was Emma Stokes, President of the WCPT, and her #WCPT2017 elephant.

On Saturday lunch time I introduced the researcher-clinician networking session by talking about the knowledge translation activities that we do at Physiopedia.  I really enjoyed this informal session and think that there is something quite innovative about this less structured programming.

#PhysioCongress we thank you.  Thank you for being so very welcoming, for your fabulous conversations, your global outlook and your innovations.  We really enjoy working with you as a partner to move our Physiotherapy profession forward.  I also think you have a thing or two to teach us about partying!
