The History of Physiospot

Physiospot was founded by Rachael Lowe in 2006.  As a busy practitioner Rachael found it difficult to make the time to trawl through journals looking for appropriate articles to keep her practice up to date and evidenced based. The task of collating these articles into one place is a resource that she would have liked to be available to her at the time, as it wasn’t she went about setting up this service herself.  She presented summaries of articles from recently published journals that were specifically selected for their clinical relevance.  This offered the opportunity for clinicians to monitor new and clinically relevant research as it was published in different clinical areas.  Her aim was to make clinically relevant research easily available to clinicians and also to provide a professional development activity that enabled clinicians to more easily incorporate the evidence into practice.  With the valuable help from additional authors Physiospot Musculoskeletal, the inaugural blog, was soon followed by others in different clinical areas.  In 2009 advanced technology enabled all the different blogs to be amalgamated into one place whilst still retaining distinction between the clinical areas, and also to incorporate featured articles, recent news, and courses and jobs.

Physiospot as a continuing education and professional development resource

Physiospot offers clinicians the opportunity to go to one place for an overview of all the recent research and news from the physiotherapy community and related health professions.  This enables practitioners to easily keep up to date with current affairs whilst links to further information give them the opportunity to read more into specific articles that take their interest.  This makes Physiospot a great starting place for self directed continuing education and professional development.
