In an updated systematic review, the efficacy of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs was assessed for the treatment of low back pain. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are effective for short-term symptomatic relief in patients with acute and chronic low back pain without sciatica. However, effect sizes are small. Different types of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs were equally effective.
